Last week, ten students from further education colleges across NRW gained first-hand experience of a wide range of research fields at Forschungszentrum Jülich. Shortly before completing their Abitur, they undertook individual short placements at several institutes and participated in guided tours, lectures, and discussions.

Taming Quantum Chip Interactions

Today’s quantum devices often look clean and well-controlled, but the physics inside is far richer and less forgiving. Researchers at Jülich, together with Nobel laureate John M. Martinis and collaborators at MIT, have developed a new framework to tame these hidden interactions.

Our 3 strategic research priorities

Information

The priority of information combines Jülich research in three areas: simulation and data science in high-performance-computing (HPC), brain research, and research on bio- and nanoelectronic information technologies of the future. Quantum technologies are another priority at Jülich.

Energy and climate

Jülich energy research concentrates on an energy system based on renewable energy. Scientists research technologies on all scales – from the atomic level right up to industrial innovations – covering the entire value chain from basic to applied research.

Bioeconomy

The sustainable bioeconomy is a biobased circular economy that does away with fossil resources and utilizes renewable resources instead. Scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich are developing new value creation processes.
