Brief description of the programme
The new flagship program of the German-Israeli Foundation replaces GIF’s two previous grant programs, offering a single unified program to fund young scientists and established researchers in parallel tracks. Focal topics replace the recurring cycles by research area.
The collaborative track for joint proposals by German and Israeli researchers funds projects of up to 2 years, with the maximum project budget is EUR 300,000 for 2 years.
The solo track for early career scientists up to 8 years after their doctoral degree funds one-year projects without a research partner from the other country with a maximum budget of EUR 25,000.
The young investigator track for solo researchers up to 6 years after their doctoral degree funds one-year projects with a maximum budget of EUR 25,000.
The goal of GIF Nexus is to promote scientific excellence through collaboration between German and Israeli teams of scientists.
The application procedure includes a pre-proposal stage, based on which only submissions of the highest scientific excellence are invited to submit a full proposal. Mutual visits in the collaborative track respectively a visit to the partner country in the young investigator track are a mandatory part of the project.
