Scientific Technology and Engineering
About
The Institute of Technology and Engineering (ITE, until Dec 2024 ZEA-1) is one of the world's leading experts in scientific engineering, developing innovative research devices, instruments and equipment in the form of prototypes and demonstration facilities. As a cross-cutting function of different disciplines and technologies, ITE makes a significant contribution to interdisciplinary projects, focusing on the development and manufacture of devices and components. These are used, for example, in atmospheric and climate research to study the physical and chemical processes of the atmosphere and its interactions from the ground to space. ITE provides essential components for measurement initiatives and projects that equip aircraft drones, zeppelins or weather balloons with satellites to measure air pollution, composition and meteorological parameters. In addition, ITE supports ground-based bio-economic research (e.g. on rhizotron systems and plants) using imaging techniques for plant, soil and root analysis (radar or various tomography methods) and plant chambers such as AGRASIM. It also includes automation, instrumentation, certification and the development of new technologies.
