Vision

In the coming years, the ITE will strengthen its unique position in the German research landscape as an important partner, reference and enabler in the development of innovative research facilities, instruments and complex systems. We will further strengthen Forschungszentrum Jülich's role as a national and international leader in excellent science and cutting-edge technologies.

Our ambition is to make a decisive contribution to solve major societal challenges and to set global standards in the design and production of highly specialised equipment and technologies that are not available on the market. We are one of the world's leading experts in scientific engineering and manufacturing. We will focus on low temperature technology, miniaturisation, ultra-high vacuum technology and the development and implementation of advanced instrumentation through the integration and combination of mechanical engineering, automation, electronics and artificial intelligence.

Central to our approach is a commitment to foster expertise at all levels, developing novel methods and integrating advanced technology and engineering. As an active partner in interdisciplinary research consortia and collaborations at Helmholtz level and with leading national and international scientific institutions, we aim to drive the development of sustainable solutions that benefit both industry and society. Our aim is to be recognised globally as one of the leading technology and engineering institute, demonstrating excellence in both scientific achievement and advanced management. This includes the effective operation of complex infrastructures and leadership in cutting-edge research.

Our work will result in technological breakthroughs and advanced scientific facilities - "Made in Jülich" - that are essential for groundbreaking research in the fields of Energy, Earth & Environment, Information and Matter.
