Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment Methods

About

In our interdisciplinary team for sustainable life cycle analysis methods, we focus on the use and further development of new methods and approaches in the field of Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA).

Research Topics

These include topic specific approaches such as the use of databases for social life cycle assessment and their interpretation, prospective methods for foreground and background systems that originate from classic life cycle assessment and the latest software tools for creating balance sheets. We also make methods usable that were not developed for LCA. These include the methods of multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). This enables us to identify trends, weigh up conflicting objectives and improve the communicability of results. We also adapt the latest trends from the field of artificial intelligence to support LCSA. These methods bring us a decisive step closer to sustainable development in the energy system.
