Stanley Risch and Rachel Maier Publish a Detailed and Open NUTS-3 Renewable Energy Potential Data Set

By comparing different datasets, Stanley Risch and Rachel Maier identified issues with the accuracy of the Corine Land Cover data set that is used frequently for renewable potential calculations and quantified the issues.

By applying high-resolution input datasets, they were able to develop different scenarios for onshore wind, offshore wind and open field PV based on land-eligibility analyses. Additionally, they used 3D building data to calculate the rooftop potential for every single building in Germany.
