Jugend forscht special award for bioeconomy goes to: healthy lollipops with unconventional sugar
At this year's regional Jugend forscht competition, 67 young researchers competed with their ideas. This was the 25th time that the competition was organized by Forschungszentrum Jülich. BioökonomieREVIER once again awarded a special award for bioeconomy.

Many bioeconomy-related entries, such as sustainable crayons, microplastic filters made from nylon tights, paper made from corn or dessert bowls made from agar-agar were winning ideas. A resemblence of the childrens great interest in sustainability.
For the fifth time, BioökonomieREVIER has awarded a special award for bioeconomy - to highlight ideas that deal with the use of bio-based materials. This year's winners are Alexandra Lauren Kalterherberg (10 years old) and Tiana-Lea Mantler (10 years old) from the Höhengebiet Bad Münstereifel primary school association for their “Healthy lollipops” project. The two lollipop fans looked for recipes with less sugar and found out that sugar can be replaced by substitutes such as birch sugar.
Congratulations to all the winners who convinced the jury with their ideas!
