Predicting the dynamics of photosynthesis by combining solar-induced fluorescence, canopy reflectance and surface temperature

In recent years, Sun Induced Fluorescence, as a proxy for photosynthesis, and various vegetation indices have been developed and extensively studied to better determine the current state of plants and thus the efficiency of photosynthesis and ultimately GPP. With the future FLEX satellite mission, SIF and the reflection-based vegetation indexes will become increasingly available worldwide. Together with ground reference measurements and airborne intermediate measurements, a unique amount of data becomes available then. These data must be validated before interpretation. Therefore, we need to test the reliability of the measured data for a further interpretation of this data. The aim of this project is a better understanding of how these remote sensing products relate to each other and what they tell us about the real physiological status of the plants.
