About Us

The ER-C operates high-performance electron microscopes that provide unique insight into the world of atoms. The core topics of the ER-C comprise the methodological development of high-resolution electron microscopy and spectroscopy techniques and their applications to the areas of materials research and nanotechnology, as well as to soft matter and structural biology research. As a national user facility operated jointly with RWTH Aachen University, it also provides state-of-the-art instruments, methods and expertise to researchers from science and industry.
