What do Diversity and Inclusion mean for us?
Diversity

We define diversity not as a person or a group of people, but as the collective differences within our community. We recognize that our employees, with their individual stories and identities, might be affected by systemic advantages and disadvantages that impact their performance, well-being, ability to work, and willingness to stay at FZJ.
Inclusion
Inclusion, in this context, is the conscious act of creating a work environment where people feel safe and valued, where everyone is given the opportunity to pursue excellence, where ideas can flow freely, and where policies and processes are as bias-free as possible.
An inclusive environment requires strong compliance with anti-discrimination laws and regulations, but it also goes beyond them and shifts the focus from mere compliance to strategy. D&I, therefore, is not just about preventing discrimination, but about creating cohesion through differences, stimulating innovation, and moving forward our collective mission as a research institution.
