Data transport with skyrmion lattices and organic molecules

Scientists from Hamburg and Jülich have made progress in the search for new solutions for faster and more energy-efficient processors and data storage. By coating organic molecules on a magnetic vortex structure, which is referred to as a skyrmion lattice, they succeeded in fabricating a hybrid compound with switching properties that can be adjusted selectively. The findings have been published in Nature Nanotechnology (DOI: 10.1038/NNANO.2014.235).
