Researchers from Forschungszentrum Jülich invited to be guest editors

1. February 2021

Prof. Dr. Norbert Galldiks (INM-3 and Department of Neurology at the University Hospital Cologne) and PD Dr. Philipp Lohmann (INM-4) have edited and published a special issue on Artificial Intelligence, Radiomics and Deep Learning in patients with brain tumors in the journal Neuro-Oncology Advances.

This special issue provides a comprehensive overview of various methods and clinical applications in this rapidly evolving field.

In addition to an editorial, Norbert Galldiks and Philipp Lohmann have also contributed a review article entitled “Feature-based PET/MRI radiomics in patients with brain tumors” in collaboration with other neuroscientists from the Forschungszentrum Jülich and the ABCD region.

Most notably, radiomics and deep learning can significantly improve the diagnosis and management of patients with brain tumors, especially in combination with clinical and histomolecular parameters.

Due to continuous innovations in neuroimaging, it is expected that Artificial Intelligence will gain increasing importance in brain tumor patients in the future. In collaboration with cooperation partners and the excellent infrastructure, the Forschungszentrum Jülich can make an important contribution to the further development of these key technologies.
