Fundamental Electrochemistry (IET-1)
At the IET-1, we develop new key technologies in the areas of electrochemical energy storage and conversion in order to advance the energy transition and the structural change in the Rhineland area.
The Institute of Energy Technologies (IET) develops and investigates technologies for the conversion and storage of renewable electricity. Due to the increasing expansion of photovoltaics and wind power, the efficient and cost-effective conversion and storage of electrical energy, as well as its use in industry, commerce, and mobile applications, plays a key role in the energy transition. The aim is to compensate for regional and temporal fluctuations in the supply of electrical energy and to ensure that all relevant energy sectors are either CO2-neutral or, in some cases, CO2-negative.
