Duties of all Users:

  1. Stay informed! Ignorance is no excuse!

  2. The user has to be up to date of all policies in the HNF at any time. Policies and their changes are published on
  3. Every user is required to take reasonable care for his/her own health and safety and that of other persons who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions at work. All persons have a duty to not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided or organized in the interest of health, safety, or welfare.
  4. If there is an issue, inform the HNF staff immediately. Send an Email to
  5. All HNF users must undergo the annual safety training once a year. The training consists of an online test and a lecture.
  6. All users must clean up after they are finished processing in an area. This means wiping and drying the area down, removing the containers from the dump rinser, and cleaning anything that is required. It is the responsibility of the user to ensure the area is as clean as or cleaner than how they found it.
  7. If there is an evacuation alarm, immediately leave the HNF building. If you are in the clean room when the alarm occurs, do NOT remove your bunny suit. Immediately leave the area and meet outside the building.
  8. Prohibited in the cleanroom (see cleanroom policy on the website):
    - make-up, perfume, cologne, aftershave, or scented lotions
    - smoking 3 hours prior to entering the facility
    - wearing sandals or high-heeled shoes or sweaters
    - Personal listening devices (MP3, etc.)
    - Contact lenses

Working in the HNF during pregnancy is at your own risk. You get in contact with chemicals that may cause miscarriage or deformities.

Additional Information


For reasons of occupational safety, persons with a body size below 1.6 m cannot work with hazardous chemicals on the wet benches.
