Open Access Publication of the Month – Ann Katrin Boomers (IAS-7) et al.

6 July 2023

To encourage us all to broaden our horizons, each month the Central Library selects one open access publication from the JuSER publications portal to be featured in the newsletter of Forschungszentrum Jülich.

In the open access publication of the month for July 2023, researchers from the Institute for Advanced Simulation – Civil Safety Research (IAS-7) and their project partners write about the pedestrian experiments they conducted involving more than 1,000 participants as part of the CroMa and CrowdDNA projects.

The publication provides a general description of the experiments and how they were implemented, and it also outlines the preconditions for all experiments, the sensor technology used to collect the data, and how the mood of participants was analysed using questionnaires. Another important goal of the publication is to increase the visibility of both the work and the people conducting the experiments as well as the associated collection of data. It also provides a reference for publications based on the experiments. The data described can be found in the Pedestrian Dynamics Data Archive set up by IAS-7.

The open access publication entitled “Pedestrian Crowd Management Experiments: A Data Guidance Paper” was published in the diamond open access journal Collective Dynamics, which is published by the Central Library of Forschungszentrum Jülich and was co-founded by IAS-7.
