Further Safety Provisions during the Pandemic – ZB Reading Room Open 8 Hours Per Day; Employees to Predominantly Work from Home

Due to the rising number of coronavirus infections and in response to changing requirements, we will once again have to adapt the services we offer from Wednesday.

Reading room and stacks open from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00

You can borrow and return books directly at the information desk and work in the reading room and stacks. Please maintain the required minimum distance in the Central Library (ZB) and use a medical mask or an FFP2 mask without an exhalation valve. Face masks may be removed when sat at your workspace. You can leave the reading room after 16:00 via the night exit. It is still not possible to gain access to the reading room at night or at weekends. Please observe the more detailed rules in the usage concepts for the ZB rooms.

It is simplest both for you and for us if you return the media you have borrowed by internal mail.

Other rooms in the Central Library subject to restriction

Currently, there are two possible options for using the ZB meeting rooms. The “2G/3G (set teams)” option allows for more participants than the “unspecified group” option. The individual usage concepts and room plans can be found on our intranet pages.

Literature requests, training courses, and other ZB services only available online

• We are carrying out the same amount of literature requests, interlibrary loans, and scanning requests for you as usual. In individual cases, there may still be delays. Borrowing books from institute libraries and collections depends on the regulations in the respective institutes. We are accepting your borrowing requests and will carry them out with the institute collections if possible. We will send your requested literature by email or internal mail to your workspace. Please only request books to be sent to your workspace if you are certain that your institute is able to receive them.
