ScaleApp project progress meeting in March 2019 in Nuremberg (Germany)

The first progress meeting of the ScaleApp project was successfully conducted on 12/13 March 2019. It took place on the production site of Deutsche Hefewerke GmbH (DHW), one of the industrial partners in ScaleApp. Besides fruitful discussion about the scientific progress in the project activities, partners were able to visit the large scale production facility of DHW, a major producer of baker´s yeast products. It was impressive to see the large scale fermentors clearly pointing to the need to better understand scalability of bioprocesses from lab to production scale, which is one of the major objectives of ScaleApp activities. After a short historical introduction to Nuremberg by Dr. Stefan Junne from TU Berlin, we enjoyed dinner with local beverages and food, especially many “Schäufele”. ScaleApp partners will continue the planned scientific activities and discuss progress in telecons and subgroup meetings until all partners will personally meet again in autumn 2019 in Tallinn (Estonia). Do not forget to check the video impressions from our Nuremberg meeting.
