New bacterial strain enables natural plant compounds to be produced
Jülich, 1 July 2016 – Scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich have developed a new bacterial strain which can produce chemical substances from sugar. These substances have a potential pharmacological effect, but are otherwise only formed in minute quantities by plants. The biotechnologists presented this new development in the leading journal Metabolic Engineering.
