Alavi-Mandell Award for Pioneering Work in Nuclear Medicine Research

2nd April 2024

INM-4 is thrilled to announce that our collaborative research together with colleagues from Aachen, Cologne and Heidelberg on the automatic segmentation of FET PET in brain tumour patients has been honoured with the Alavi-Mandell Award by the Journal of Nuclear Medicine (JNM) and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). This esteemed award recognizes exceptional contributions to the field of nuclear medicine and celebrates scientists whose research demonstrates innovation and excellence.

The award was presented to Robin Gutsche, the first author of the paper entitled “Automated Brain Tumor Detection and Segmentation for Treatment Response Assessment Using Amino Acid PET”. The award is given to individuals who were the first author of a paper published in the JNM, were trainees at the time the published work was carried out, and made a major contribution to the completion of the work.

Established by Dr. Abass Alavi, MD, and Dr. Gerald Mandell, MD, in memory of their fathers, the Alavi-Mandell Award aims to encourage young physicians and scientists to pursue careers in academic and research in nuclear medicine.
