Lindau Young Scientist Dr Ravichandran Rajkumar on the impact of the pandemic on research

1st June 2021

Every year, around 30-40 Nobel Laureates convene at Lindau to meet the next generation of leading scientists, and this year Dr Ravichandran Rajkumar from INM-4 was selected to join the 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. Focusing alternately on physiology/medicine, physics and chemistry, the aim of the event is to foster the exchange of knowledge, ideas and experience among scientists of different generations, cultures and disciplines.

Although the face-to-face meetings were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, events and discussions have taken place virtually, and participants were able to take part in engaging online sessions with Nobel Laureates and worked together to share ideas during a digital Sciathon with Nobel Laureate Elizabeth H. Blackburn.

In a blog written as part of his activities with the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, Dr Rajkumar shares his thoughts on the benefits of data sharing and the impact of the pandemic on research.
