Mechanobiology (IBI-2)

Stretching and force measurement device for tissue samples: Tissue slices of variable size are attached in the center of a half-cylindrical double-walled medium chamber. Space between walls is used for temperature control. Inlets allow for continuous medium exchange, compound supply and oxygenation. Tissue slices are attached in vertical direction and hold on top by a force transducer for accurate traction force measurements. For additional straining of tissue slices, force transducer is attached to a computer controlled stepper-motor. The whole setup is assembled on a small table to enable life microscopy from the side through the plain side of the half-cylindrical medium chamber.
