Flexible Working Hours and Workplace

Various reconciliation situations require different working arrangements.

At Forschungszentrum Jülich, employees can make use of flexitime, teleworking, part-time employment, and ad hoc teleworking to reconcile their work and private lives.

Flextime

All employees of Forschungszentrum Jülich have a flexitime account, which allows them to choose their daily working hours within the flexitime bandwidth (Mondays to Fridays from 06:00 to 20:00) while upholding the regulations governing safety at work, the legal limits for working hours, and official company requirements.

Teleworking

Teleworking provides employees with the opportunity to better reconcile their career and family life. It is a contractually regulated form of working that allows employees to undertake part of their work from home.

Ad hoc teleworking

Ad hoc teleworking offers employees the opportunity to undertake part of their work from a location outside of Forschungszentrum Jülich.

Reducing or increasing number of working hours (part-time employment)

With the consent of the responsible organizational unit, employees at Forschungszentrum Jülich may reduce or increase their contractually regulated weekly working hours.

Leave from work (TVöD employees) and special leave (civil servants)

Employees may apply for unpaid leave from work (TVöD employees) or special unpaid leave (civil servants) if they have a good reason for doing so. The employer decides whether or not this leave is approved. Employees have no special right to such leave. The duration of unpaid leave from work/special unpaid leave depends on the employee's reasons and business or company concerns.
