Career Events & Training Courses

In order to plan out your career, the Career Center offers various events and training courses. Tailored training programmes will prepare you for the various career pathways within or outside of science, help you gain transferable skills, and equip you for complex leadership and management tasks.

Our multitude of career events will inform you about career options, encourage networking, and introduce you to valuable new networking partners.

Jülich Career Day

During the Jülich Career Day, experts from all fields of academic science, science management, industry, and entrepreneurship talk about career opportunities and their own experiences.


Alumni Talks

Take the chance to have a lively discussion about careers with former scientists of Forschungszentrum Jülich. The Alumni will talk about their career paths, explain what their every-day working life is like, and answer your questions about your own professional futures in a relaxed setting. Career Prep Seminars

Career Prep Seminars are focusing on different career related topics, such as application know-how, entrepreneurship education or career options in industry. Topics always are closely related to your needs when it comes closer to the next steps in your career. Advanced Talents Day

„Get ready for a Professorship! - Application and Self-Marketing in Times of Corona“ was the title of this year’s Advanced Talents Day, which took place from 16 to 17 June 2020. The virtual program addressed career planning on the way to a professorship, with a special focus on the current challenges due to the corona crisis.
More than 85 participants from RWTH Aachen University, Forschungszentrum Jülich and University of Cologne took the opportunity to join the different online events from this 5th edition of the Advanced Talents Day, organized this year by the University of Cologne.


Company Visits

On 5 September 2019, around 30 early-career scientists from Jülich embarked on a trip to Marl – the home of one of the largest chemical parks in Germany – to get an impression of what it's like to work as a researcher at a chemical company. Evonik’s strategic innovation unit, Creavis, was the focal point of the visit. The whole trip was organized by the Career Center & Postdoc Office.
