At the Institute of Energy and Climate Research – Techno-economic Systems Analysis (IEK-3), research is conducted into how a sustainable energy system can be designed and implemented. For this purpose, a wide range of techno-economic models are developed, which allow an integrated view of local to global energy systems and identify possible solutions for energy system transformation.

These models are complex and require an extensive hardware and software infrastructure that needs to be maintained and further developed. Hardware and software requirements have to be defined and sustainable processes and architectures have to be designed and implemented to enable energy system researchers to efficiently use and collaboratively develop energy models.

We are looking to recruit a

Systems Architect DevOps

Your Job:

  • Familiarization with existing energy system models and software structures of the institute
  • Construction, further development, and administration of the computing and server infrastructure
  • Systematic integration of the models into the computing architecture
  • Definition, automation, and optimization of the development processes
  • Efficient documentation for the integration of new employees into the processes of the institute department
  • Support with requirement analyses and co-design of solution concepts

Your Profile:

  • A completed bachelors degree or vocational training in IT
  • Knowledge of container solutions (Docker, Kubernetes etc.) is advantageous
  • Knowledge of Python-based web frameworks (Django, Flask) is advantageous
  • Knowledge of agile project management is advantageous
  • Distinct ability to cooperate and organizational skills with a high level of initiative and willingness to learn
  • Enthusiasm for complex computing and software infrastructures, as well as the willingness to participate in the energy transition
  • Profound knowledge of German and English, both spoken and written
