Jülich Expert Organizes World’s Most Important Supercomputing Conference

Jülich, 9 November 2017 – Black, red, and gold – the colours of the German flag have been chosen for the logo of the SC17 conference taking place from 12 November 2017 in Denver. It is quite possibly an allusion to the event’s coordinator, Bernd Mohr, the first ever non-American to organize the world’s most important supercomputing conference. Preparations have taken three years, with 600 volunteers contributing. Mohr, who was born to network, has twice been included on the "People to Watch" list of the journal HPCwire – once in 2015 and once in 2017. The question "Do you know Bernd Mohr?" – the title of Mohr’s blog on the conference – has already become something of a catchphrase in the supercomputing scene.
