Five Million Euros for Joint Application from Düsseldorf, Jülich, and Cologne

Alexander von Humboldt Professor Wolf B. Frommer takes up work

1 April 2017 – CEPLAS, the excellence cluster of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) and the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1208 on membrane systems, is set to welcome a high-profile new addition to its team. Prof. Dr. Wolf Frommer, who most recently conducted biological research in Stanford, is today making the switch as an Alexander von Humboldt Professor to HHU’s newly established institute for molecular physiology. He will also work in Cologne and Jülich. The Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIPZ) in Cologne, Forschungszentrum Jülich, and HHU were thus successful in their joint application for the highly endowed German research prize. The professorship is being financed to the tune of € 5 million.
