Atmospheric Research to Protect the Climate

Jülich, 14 March 2017 – The research aircraft HALO can penetrate into the stratosphere: it has gathered atmospheric data in all regions of the Earth over the last five years. The long-haul aircraft is a joint initiative between several German environment and climate research institutions, including Forschungszentrum Jülich. "Now more than ever, we require fundamental research work and a detailed evaluation of climate data to ensure our climate protection measures are based on concrete facts," said Federal Minister of Education and Research Prof. Johanna Wanka in Berlin during a symposium on past HALO missions as well as those planned until 2022.
