A Step Towards Improved Data Storage

Jülich, 19 August 2016 – They are many times faster than flash memories and require significantly less energy: ReRAM memories could revolutionize computer technology in the next few years. As yet, insufficient research has been devoted to the switching processes of these novel memories. However, an interdisciplinary team of scientists from Jülich, Aachen, and the USA has now developed a new method to determine what happens during the switching process. The new findings make it easier to design memories and enable switching characteristics to be adjusted in a targeted manner. The findings have now been published in the journal Nature Communications.
