Six Helmholtz centres are setting up a joint infrastructure for the development of novel energy materials

Jülich, 29 July 2015 – The Helmholtz Senate has resolved to set up a large-scale infrastructure for the synthesis and development of novel material systems for energy conversion and storage. The total volume will be € 46 million between 2016 and 2020. The creation of the Helmholtz Energy Materials Foundry (HEMF) will be coordinated by Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB). Five other Helmholtz centres will be involved in the concept and setup: the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Forschungszentrum Jülich, Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht (HZG), and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
