Topic

"Chemical processes influencing interactions between pollution and weather”

My project targets the analysis of atmospheric chemical processes and their impact on the climate system. Specifically, we investigate how new findings from kinetic studies, field campaigns, or the analysis of atmospheric composition monitoring data can be translated into numerical model parameterizations. Among others I address the further development of the dry deposition representation in the atmospheric chemistry model ECHAM/MESSy. In particular, the interaction between extreme weather and pollution events with the focus on near-surface ozone is studied.
