Forschungszentrum Jülich Switching to Basic Operations

Jülich, 17.03.2020 – To counter any further spreading of the coronavirus, Forschungszentrum Jülich and all its sites are entering basic operations mode. This means that we will continue working at full capacity and carrying out all business processes as much as possible, but with a minimal presence on the Jülich campus and its other sites for a limited period of time. This simultaneously supports the federal and state governments’ measures to control the spread of the pandemic.

Our employees will start working from home as soon as possible, and from 20 March at the latest. This will continue to guarantee safe working conditions for all our colleagues and those around them, and at the same time to ensure Forschungszentrum Jülich’s regular operation as far as possible.

All security- and safety-related functions and control centres will remain staffed. The Works Fire Brigade, on-call staff, and radiation emergency response services will remain in full operation. Access to the campus and availability will remain ensured. In accordance with the state government’s provisions, the daycare centre on Jülich’s campus has been closed since 16 March.

This basic operations mode will apply until 19 April 2020. This duration will be adapted according to further developments.

Forschungszentrum Jülich is prepared for a pandemic: as early as in January, the first preventive measures were introduced and they have been adapted continuously since. Furthermore, Forschungszentrum Jülich is in constant contact with the competent authorities.

Update: Basic operations mode is extended until 3 May 2020.
