Christian Lang Receives Enzo Ferroni Prize for Young Researchers

22 October 2019

Dr. Christian Lang from the Jülich Centre for Neutron Science (JCNS) received an "Enzo Ferroni Award for a Young Scientist" at the 33rd Conference of the European Colloid and Interface Society (ECIS). Since 2014, ECIS and the Italian foundation "Fondazione Prof. Enzo Ferroni" have been honouring young researchers for outstanding scientific work in the field of colloid and interface research with the € 500 prize.

The physicist received the award for his investigations into the flow behaviour of rod-shaped colloids in suspensions and its quantitative predictions. Rod-shaped colloids occur in nature and are used in technical applications, such as in liquid crystals. Lang is in charge of the neutron small angle diffractometer KWS-2 at the JCNS outstation at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum (MLZ) in Garching. The ECIS 2019 conference took place from 8 - 13 September in the Belgian city of Leuven.
