Heuristic solution for achieving long-term cycle stability for Ni-rich layered cathodes at full depth of discharge

The article entitled “Heuristic solution for achieving long-term cycle stability for Ni-rich layered cathodes at full depth of discharge” has been accepted by the journal of Nature energy. In this work, our IEK-1 researchers found a relation between dopant-induced lattice strain and anisotropy in surface stabilities of Li-based cathodes. In other words, the particle shape can be controlled by the size of dopant ion. The theoretical results agree well with observations of our experimentalist partner (from the Hanyang university in Seoul) with whom this project has been performed.
