DEEP-ER research project sets technology trends for the next generation of supercomputers

Jülich/Munich, 16 May 2017: The DEEP-ER project co-funded by the European Union has come to a successful conclusion. The results achieved by the 14 partners will have a lasting impact on the development of future supercomputer systems. Its highly efficient and scalable I/O and resiliency software and the tight integration with novel memory and storage technologies solve long-standing problems with large HPC systems, and the highly innovative system prototype promises new levels of performance and energy efficiency. Seven important European scientific and engineering applications have validated the DEEP-ER concept. These remarkable results were achieved in a close co-design collaboration between all hardware, software and application experts in the project.
