Award for the Best Doctoral Thesis in Materials Science

Dr. PengYi Tang, physicist at ER-C-1/PGI-5, has received an award from the Spanish Microscopy Society (Sociedad de Microscopía de España, SME) for the best doctoral thesis in materials science 2016-17 with his work on “Semiconductor Composite Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion Applications”.

The prize was presented at the “Microscopy at the Frontiers of Science 2019” conference held in Granada, Spain, from 11-13 September.

Tang completed his thesis at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and at the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research in Barcelona, Spain, and spent five months as a DAAD scholarship holder at the Ernst Ruska-Centre during this time. Since July 2019, he has been working as a Humboldt Fellow in Jülich.
